Idly Pot "Idly Panai"

Brass Idly pot or in Tamil we called it as "Idly Panai". This pot was used to produce the savory cake. It is in white colour and the size is 2 to 3 inches diameter which is made from rice flour and white lentils. This idly famous through out of India and it was started in South of India. To produce Idly the batter have to go through steaming process. Idly normally consider a snack item and usually served for breakfast and dinner and it normally served with "sambar" lentil gravy or with chutney. It is one of the most healthy diet food. You can try it in any Indian restaurant in Little India, Penang. My personal recommendation would be "Karaikudi Restaurant".

In those days people like to use brass ware because they believe the taste of food better and chemical reaction through cooking using brass wares is good for health. In India, there are people still using brass wares, even though the pot and other kitchen wares been produced with other materials such as stainless steel. This Idly pot also made from copper material and it is very hard to get. This copper Idly pot normally used by wealthy people compared to brass wares.
