This is a Copper heater or another nick name called "Tall Boy". In Tamil we named as "Vemba"It looks like a vertically positioned copper boiler, venting steam and smoke with coal ambers glowing in it belly. This normally use to boiling water. In some wealthy homes, this vessel is a must. In South India this boiler will be a 1st investment of any tea shop. They used this to boiling water and make a tea or coffee. This copper boiler was used in 1950's era or earlier. We bought this from an Indian family in Little India, Penang. If notice, the name of family was incised on it. Very interesting and eye catching piece.
