Wedding Gift!!!
Wonderful embroidery for a pillow cover. Specifically made as a wedding gift. According to an antique expert, in those days certain community in Tamil especially the Chettiars will present this type of item for newly wed couples as a wedding gift. This embroidery will represent their family as a gift to the couples. Then this couple will keep it as momento of them for attending their wedding. According to the owner of this pillow, it was made in 1940's. This was carefully kept by this person and we really have a very hard time persuading him to sell it to us. Very interesting collectible item in Tamil heritage collections.
