Relaxing....
This photo was taken in Alor Setar, Kedah in 1930's period. The shoes that the lady is wearing is called the "manek shoes". Manek shoes was used by the Nyonya community during that era that symbolizes the wealth of an individual or a family. This particular couple is quite wealthy. It's very rare for Tamil community to have their photograph taken in that era, but this couple able to higher a photographer to be taken at their residential home. Their furnitures are the best proof to show that they're wealthy.
