Typical Indian Man

This photograph was taken in the year 1930's which it was stated on the photo itself. This man belonged to the chettiar community. The umbrella the man is holding has his name engraved on it. This shows how the stature of a wealthy Indian man live within the community. All of their belongings has their family name engraved on it. Sometimes, the gifts given to them has their name engraved to be kept as a sentimental value.

If you notice that there's an un-stitched cloth that is draped around his shoulders is called "angavastram" without the chapal (slipper or shoe). It shows that this man believes in the divine or a spiritual person. The white lines across his shoulders, arms, forehead and his wrists indicates that he is truly a very pious man.
